* Skrillex will bring his Grammy-winning tunes to Edmonton part of a six-city Full Flex Express tour across Canada. The dubstep DJ, who won three gramophones at this year’s awards, will perform Friday, July 20, but fans will have to wait until Tuesday, May 8 for venue and ticket information to be announced.
* Gospel singers Blind Boys of Alabama will perform Sunday, June 10 at the Winspear Centre. Over the Rhine, a husband-and-wife team of folkies, will open. Tickets are $36 and $44 plus service charges at winspearcentre.com.
* One of last year’s Folk Fest hits, Deer Tick, is making another stop in Edmonton. The alt-country band from Rhode Island will play Saturday, June 2 at The Starlite Room. Tickets are $22.50 plus service charges at primeboxoffice.com.
* Is it Friday, June 22 yet? That’s when Lacombe’s country star, Gord Bamford, will make his first appearance at the River Cree Resort & Casino. Tickets are $29.50 plus service charges at rivercreetickets.com. Bamford released his fifth album (and his first for Sony Music), Is It Friday Yet?, in March.
