The Cat Empire boys play Winspear Thursday night.

The Cat Empire: On their Stolen Diamonds tour, the Australian rock band brings their brand of feel-good, high-energy, smile-inducing, euphoric roots pop to Edmonton. Bound together by a love of music since their teens, the band crafts infectious, genre-embracing anthems, releasing them on chart-topping, multi-platinum selling albums, playing hundreds of shows each year. They also dress a bit like the survivors of the Mad Max apocalypse in their video Brighter Than Gold, so feel free to wear an alarm clock around your neck and an ancient football helmet from the “before time” to the show!

Details: 8 p.m. at Winspear Centre (4 Sir Winston Churchill Sq.), $37 and up at winspearcentre.com

Joy Ride 2019: The organizing committee of Joy Ride plans to raise an estimated amount of $100,000 in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and Make-A-Wish Northern Alberta. By forming a team and joining the Joy Ride, you will make a difference in the lives of our kids. It’s an event that requires just a little of your time but makes such a big impact in return. Teams will embark on a 12-hour stationary ride at this energetic and fun-filled event. There is a minimum of five participants per team, but no maximum. One person from your team must be riding at all times. Register and get more details at yegjoyride.com.

Joy Ride 2019 is in Edmonton City Centre Thursday.

Details: 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Edmonton City Centre (10025 102A Ave.), $50 individual registration fee supports the causes

Climax: This one looks trippy. French dancers gather in a remote, empty school building to rehearse on a wintry night. The all-night celebration morphs into a hallucinatory nightmare when they learn their sangria is laced with LSD. And the lesson, as ever? Know your dealer! Directed by Gaspar Noe.

Details: 9:30 p.m. at Metro Cinema (8712 109 St.), $13 at metrocinema.org
